Best Forex Prop Firms in 2026
I trade futures, not forex — so instead of a fake ranking, here's the framework I'd use to pick a forex prop firm in 2026: the rules that matter, the costs nobody mentions, and the red flags worth walking away from.
Some links on this page are affiliate links — if you use them, I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you, and you'll usually get the best available discount with code SATO. I only link firms I've actually traded with, which is why you won't find a padded top-ten list here.
Search "best forex prop firms" and you'll get a dozen identical top-ten lists, ranked by who pays the biggest affiliate commission. I'm not going to add another one. My own funded accounts are futures accounts, and the firm I trade on the CFD side is FundedNext — so the honest version of this article is a selection framework plus the one firm I can speak about first-hand. Use the framework on any firm you're considering and you'll filter out most of the industry in about ten minutes.
The best forex prop firm for you is the one whose rulebook fits your strategy and whose payout history is verifiable. Compare drawdown type, daily loss definition, weekend and news rules, spread/commission model, swap policy and payout mechanics — in that order. Ignore headline profit splits, ignore permanent "limited time" discounts, and if you trade intraday indices rather than currencies, check the best futures prop firms instead — cheaper evaluations and no overnight financing.

Read the CFD rankingThe Seven Things That Actually Decide It
Every forex prop firm markets the same three numbers: account size, profit split, and discount. None of those three is why traders fail. Here's what to compare instead, in priority order.
| Factor | What to look for | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Drawdown type | Static vs trailing, balance vs equity | Decides your correct position size more than any other rule |
| Daily loss limit | Definition, reset time and timezone | Most 'random' account breaches are clock problems, not market problems |
| Weekend holding | Allowed, banned, or a separate swing model | A hard filter if you hold positions past Friday |
| News window | Which releases, how wide, funded vs evaluation | Can void your single best day on the funded account |
| Spreads & commission | Raw + commission vs marked-up spread | Scalpers pay this cost hundreds of times per target |
| Swap policy | Overnight rate per symbol, triple-swap day | Quietly eats swing-trade edge over weeks |
| Payout mechanics | First payout wait, cycle length, split, conditions | The only number that ever reaches your bank account |
If a firm won't give you clear answers on all seven before you pay, that's your answer. The full breakdown of the CFD-side rules lives in my CFD prop firm rules guide.
The CFD firm I actually trade
FundedNext publishes its leverage table, swap policy, weekend rules and payout cycle openly — which is exactly the transparency this checklist is testing for. Code SATO applies the best available discount.
The Costs Nobody Puts on the Sales Page
On a forex CFD account, three costs sit between the chart and your payout. The first is the spread and commission model. Raw spreads plus a per-lot commission is usually cheaper and far more predictable than a marked-up spread, and if you scalp, this difference alone can decide whether your strategy clears the profit target at all.
The second is swap — overnight financing on anything held past the daily cutoff, with a triple-swap day midweek to cover the weekend. Day traders never pay it. Swing traders pay it every single night, and it comes straight out of the balance the profit target is measured against.
The third is the evaluation fee itself, and the real question is how many attempts your plan implies. A cheap challenge you'll buy four times is more expensive than a pricier one you'll pass once. Buy the smallest account size where your normal risk per trade still makes sense — not the biggest one you can afford.
Payouts: The Only Number That Reaches Your Bank
Profit split is the most advertised and least important payout number. What decides whether you actually get paid is the surrounding structure: how long until the first withdrawal is allowed, how long the cycle is afterwards, whether there's a minimum profit or minimum trading-day requirement, and whether a consistency rule can delay the request because one day carried too much of the profit.
Before buying, find one thing: evidence of real traders being paid recently, with dates. I publish my own payout proof for exactly this reason — a firm that can't or won't show a payout history is asking you to fund its cash flow on trust. For how the mechanics look at a firm I use, see the FundedNext CFD payout rules breakdown. Terms change, so always check the current rulebook rather than a blog's table — including mine.
Green Flags vs Red Flags
- Years of operating history and a named company entity you can look up
- Specific, versioned rulebook — numbers, not adjectives
- Verifiable recent payout history with dates
- Support that answers a hard rules question before you buy
- Separate, clearly labelled swing models if weekend holding is allowed
- Same rules on the evaluation and the funded stage, or the differences spelled out
- Permanent 'limited time' 40%+ discounts as the main selling point
- Vague rules like 'no abusive trading' with no definition
- Rules changed retroactively on existing accounts
- No payout proof beyond screenshots with no dates
- Trivially easy profit target paired with near-impossible withdrawal conditions
- Support that exists only in a Discord channel with no company details anywhere
Forex CFD Funding vs Futures Funding
Worth asking before you buy anything: are currencies actually your market, or did the ads just find you first? Forex CFD funding gives you 24/5 access, swing-friendly models at some firms, and large nominal account sizes for a modest fee. Futures funding gives you exchange-traded contracts, transparent volume and orderflow data, no overnight financing cost, and generally cheaper evaluations.
I trade futures because orderflow on a centralised exchange is readable in a way that fragmented CFD liquidity isn't — that's a preference about method, not a claim that forex funding is worse. If you're weighing the two sides properly, the CFD vs futures prop firms comparison lays out costs, rules and availability side by side, and funded trading accounts in the UK covers which firms accept which countries.

Best Forex Prop Firms — FAQ
What is a forex prop firm?+
A forex prop firm gives you an evaluation (a paid challenge) on a simulated account. Hit the profit target without breaking the drawdown or daily loss rules and you get a funded account, where you keep an agreed share of the profit — usually 80–90% at the higher tiers. Almost all forex prop firms trade CFDs on MetaTrader-style platforms rather than exchange-traded contracts, which is the key structural difference from futures funding.
Which forex prop firm is the best?+
There is no single best one, because the right firm depends on your style. Swing traders need weekend holding and a sane swap policy. Scalpers need tight spreads and no restrictive consistency rule. News traders need to read the news window clause carefully — and will probably be disappointed. Pick on rules first, price second, and marketing never.
How do I compare forex prop firms properly?+
Compare six things in this order: drawdown type (static vs trailing, balance vs equity), daily loss limit definition, weekend and news holding rules, spread and commission model, swap/overnight financing policy, and payout mechanics including the first payout wait and the profit split. Everything else — scaling plans, free retries, dashboards — is secondary.
Are forex prop firms legit?+
The established ones with years of verifiable payout history are real businesses; the space also attracts short-lived operators who take challenge fees and disappear. The practical filter is boring: how long has the firm existed, does it publish real payout proof, is the rulebook specific rather than vague, and does it have an actual support channel. If a firm's main selling point is an enormous discount, that is a warning sign, not a bargain.
What profit split do forex prop firms pay?+
Commonly 80% at the funded stage, rising to 90% or occasionally 100% on scaled or premium models. What matters more than the headline number is the payout cycle and the conditions attached: minimum profit before withdrawal, minimum trading days in the cycle, and whether a consistency rule can delay the request. A 90% split you can't withdraw beats nothing — an 80% split paid reliably beats it.
Do forex prop firms allow EAs and copy trading?+
EAs are generally allowed on MetaTrader-based accounts, but tick scalping, latency arbitrage and platform-abuse strategies are banned industry-wide. Copying between your own accounts is allowed at some firms and restricted at others; copying third-party signal providers is stricter still. It is model-specific — read the prohibited-strategies section before you connect anything.
Is forex or futures prop trading better?+
Futures funding suits intraday index traders: exchange-traded contracts, transparent volume and orderflow data, no overnight financing, and cheap evaluations. Forex CFD funding suits traders who want 24/5 currency access, swing models with weekend holding, and higher account sizes for the price. Neither is better in the abstract — they fail for different reasons, which is the point of comparing rulebooks rather than logos.
How much does a forex prop firm challenge cost?+
Pricing scales with account size and typically runs from roughly the price of a night out for the smallest accounts up to several hundred dollars for six-figure accounts, with frequent discounting. Fee refunds on the first payout are common on two-step models. Don't buy the biggest account you can afford — buy the smallest one where your normal risk per trade still makes sense.
What are the biggest red flags with a forex prop firm?+
A vague rulebook, no named company entity, permanent 'limited time' discounts, no verifiable payout history, changing rules retroactively, support that only exists on Discord, and profit targets that are trivially easy paired with withdrawal conditions that are nearly impossible. Any one of these is enough to walk away — you're handing over money before you find out.
Can US traders use forex prop firms?+
Some accept US clients and some don't, and it changes as firms adjust to their broker partners' restrictions. Always check the current terms for your country before buying — and note that US traders often end up better served by futures prop firms, which face fewer restrictions on retail leverage and are built on regulated exchange-traded contracts.
Pick on rules, not rankings
Run the seven-factor checklist on any firm you're considering. If you want the CFD firm I trade myself, FundedNext publishes everything up front — use code SATO for the best available discount.
